As the sun set over Brighton’s scenic coast we had 26 brave fundraisers drop 162m to raise money for Raystede.
Over two different days, we had individuals and groups take on the challenge located at the Brighton British Airways i360. Our first group of fundraisers were treated to a sunny May evening for their iDrop Challenge, overlooking the beautiful South Coast.
After a morning of rain the afternoon brightened up and we had a glorious sunset ahead of the challenge. First up we had students and teachers from Roedean School; Sophia, Jemima, Molly, Mrs Wilson, Mr Wilson, and Dr Barrand. Nerves were high when the girls arrived but once the harnesses were on and we were up in the air they became more excited. A huge Thank You to Roedean school who raised and donated £1500 through their in-school fundraising campaigns, which will go towards vital work at Raystede.
Sophia said, ‘Best birthday present ever – what a great way to celebrate my 18th!’; Molly said, ‘I was so nervous before, but then when it started it was amazing!’, and Jemima added, ‘I won’t forget this in a hurry, and I love that the School is supporting such important charities.’
A week later we had another cohort of fundraisers ready to take on the challenge overlooking Brighton beach.
Our first group was made up of individual fundraisers who fancied taking on the challenge. We had lots of nerves in the group but everyone bravely finished the challenge. Together they raised a combined total of £1400. Thank you to all our individual fundraisers for taking part.

Our next group of the day were Morrisons Seaford and Morrisons Crowborough, led by their community champions Sophie, Mollie, and Erin. Through in-store and online fundraising, as well as match funding from the Morrisons Foundation, they raised a massive £2,500.
As the pod ascended the sunset and the group were met with twinkling lights over the city. The community champions were the first to drop before the rest of their colleagues quickly followed suit. We also had one pair take on the challenge in tandem.
A big thank you to the Morrisons Team and the Morrisons Foundation.

Raystede Challenge EventsFundraising for our charity by taking on a challenge event is essential to giving animals a second chance, Raystede is reliant on donations and we couldn't continue our work without support from people like you.
Elder is one of the many young dogs in our care. He is BIG, already weighing 40kgs and not yet fully grown! He has needed a lot of support and ongoing reward based training to help him make better choices. Rather than getting frustrated and ripping up the sofa he now chooses to get a toy and will look for reassurance and a treat rather than barking and pulling towards something he finds scary. It costs approximately £1186 for us to look after a dog before they are rehomed, and for our more complex dogs who stay with us longer, such as Elder, this cost is even higher.
Thank you again to our fundraisers, for helping animals like Elder who needed a second chance.
